Extractions & Oral Surgery — Coventry & Vernon
Take Control of Your Oral Health
When teeth cannot be saved due to deep decay, periodontal (gum) disease, fracture, or unfavorable conditions that prevent the placement of a restoration, it is usually necessary to remove the tooth. The resulting space will then be evaluated for a replacement which can include a dental bridge or dental implant. Our dentists use a gentle touch and patient-friendly approach to guide you through the process of extractions and oral surgery. Our Vernon and Coventry, CT, dental offices include an in-office surgeon, Dr. Jonathan Mason, who has advanced training in oral surgery and is responsible for many of the more complex extractions done in the office.
When teeth are in the bone or below the gums, they are called impacted. Often times these teeth are the third molars or wisdom teeth and need to be removed due to lack of room, infection, or decay. Utilizing IV sedation, Dr. Mason will help you fall off to sleep while the procedure is completed. You will then awake feeling like you have just had a good night's sleep, with no memory of the procedure. Patients who undergo sedation dentistry often have reduction of post-operative pain and recovery time, meaning that patients are back to their normal routines quickly and painlessly.
